The Soapstone Twin-Pedestal Long Table is the communal table for rooms that want a darker, calmer surface. The top is a soapstone-grey sintered stone with a fine brass line set beneath its edge; the base is two square ebony-tone columns, each standing on a low cross foot.
Twin pedestals are the cleanest way to support a long top. With no legs at the corners, both ends are completely free for chairs, and guests along the sides never meet a leg. The trade-off is engineering: each pedestal carries half the top, so the cross feet are sized to the top's width and the columns are fixed through steel plates and threaded inserts, never through screws alone.
Soapstone-grey sintered stone is a strong practical choice for communal tables. It hides glass rings and the grey smear of a long service better than white stone, it tolerates hot serving dishes, and it cleans with a neutral detergent.
We draw this table from 79 to 118 in (200–300 cm) long. Over about 8 ft we review the span on the shop drawing and may add a concealed steel rail under the top.
