The Calder Round seats four at a 35½ in (90 cm) diameter and is the table we draw in front of curved banquettes, where a round top lets guests slide in from the side without a corner in their ribs.
It shares the Calder top construction: travertine-look sintered stone with a 2 in (5 cm) thick edge, low porosity and good heat tolerance, so it shrugs off coffee, red wine and hot plates. The column is the same matte black flat steel section as the rest of the family, which keeps a mixed floor of squares, rectangles and rounds visually consistent.
Instead of a cross foot, the round sits on a steel disc base of 19¾ in (50 cm) diameter with a recessed shadow line at its edge, which makes the disc look thinner than it is. A disc puts its weight right at floor level, so it resists tipping well for its size; a larger disc is available where the top is enlarged or the table will see heavy leaning.
The Calder Round is the natural partner for semicircular booths and corner banquettes, and works equally well freestanding with four side chairs.
