Wood is the only common table surface you can sand back and refinish rather than replace. That makes it the long-game choice for owners who plan to run the same room for years, provided the finish is right for commercial cleaning. We finish restaurant tops in a hard-wearing commercial lacquer or 2K polyurethane, not a soft oil, so water rings and sanitiser wipes don't cloud the surface.
The bases in this family are timber-led: fluted columns turned and grooved like classical pilasters, a tapering wedge plinth that grounds a small two-top, and a four-post base with cross feet that keeps the floor open beneath long tops. A steel-column plate base is offered where the room needs a lighter look under the same top.
| Finish | Water & alcohol | Repair | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commercial lacquer | Good | Spot repair, re-coat | Standard on our tops |
| 2K polyurethane | Very good | Sand and re-coat | Best for heavy wipe-down |
| Hardwax oil | Fair | Easy re-oil | Better for cafés that re-oil on schedule |
Solid wood moves with humidity, so tops are fixed through slotted holes and supplied with steel inserts for the base, not wood screws into end grain. Species, colour and sheen are matched to your sample.
Where a room needs one or two tables to stand up to hot iron or heavy sauces, the same bases can carry a sintered stone top, so the floor keeps one family of silhouettes while each zone gets the right surface.
